परिचय
नवरात्रि के दूसरे दिन की पूजा माँ ब्रह्मचारिणी को समर्पित है। वे तपस्या और भक्ति की देवी हैं। उनकी उपासना से भक्तों को ज्ञान, शांति और आत्मबल प्राप्त होता है।
कथा
‘ब्रह्म’ का अर्थ है तपस्या और ‘चारिणी’ का अर्थ है आचरण करने वाली। माँ ब्रह्मचारिणी वही हैं जिन्होंने कठोर तपस्या की।
पिछले जन्म में वे सती थीं, जिन्होंने अपने पति भगवान शिव का अपमान सह न पाने पर देह त्याग दी। पुनर्जन्म में पार्वती के रूप में उन्होंने भगवान शिव को पति के रूप में पाने के लिए हजारों वर्षों तक कठिन तप किया।
उनके हाथ में जपमाला और कमंडल है और वे नंगे पैर तपस्या करती हुई दिखाई देती हैं।
महत्व
