नींद से बचने के लिए वे पत्ते तोड़ते और नीचे गिराते रहे, और संयोगवश नीचे एक शिवलिंग था जिस पर वे पत्ते चढ़ते रहे।
उस दिन उन्होंने भूखे-प्यासे रहकर अनजाने में उपवास भी कर लिया।
शिवजी की कृपा:
भले ही यह उपवास और पूजा अनजाने में हुई, पर भगवान शिव ने उसे स्वीकार किया। मृत्यु के बाद शिकारी को राजा चित्रभानु के रूप में पुनर्जन्म मिला — ज्ञान, वैभव और धर्म का प्रतीक।
