जन्म से ही अंधे थे या बचपन में अंधापन हो गया (कथाएं अलग हैं)।
बचपन से ही भगवान कृष्ण के प्रति अत्यधिक भक्ति।
अंधापन के कारण वे शास्त्रों और ज्ञान को मौखिक रूप से सीखते थे।
भक्ति यात्रा:
वल्लभाचार्य के अनुयायी बने, जिन्होंने पुष्टिमार्ग की स्थापना की।
उत्तर भारत में भ्रमण कर कृष्ण भक्ति का प्रचार किया।
मृत्यु: जीवन का अधिकांश समय वृंदावन में बिताया, जहां भक्ति में लीन रहते हुए निधन हुआ।
